Contentment

During the holiday season, it is especially challenging to keep a heart of contentment. So many beautiful things flash before our eyes, reminding us that we are in this endless cycle of always needing the next best thing. We often believe the lie that we are lacking without that very thing. We act like our value or worth rests within having a product, instead of a Creator. Alabaster & Elm values your soul way more than you purchasing our products. As we move closer to the hustle and bustle of buying presents and making our own wish lists, let’s pause and take a moment to partner with contentment.

This is an important practice: stop, look around and give thanks for what we have been given. Thank God for His providence and for showing up in the moments we needed Him most. We often are fantasizing and hoping for what’s to come and forgetting to be present with joy in the here and now. We have so much to be thankful for. If you are able to read this post, that means you have the technology of a screen and healthy eyes to read. You most likely have a roof over your head and maybe even some cozy hot chocolate beside you (if you are extra lucky, it has some whip cream in it). Let’s take a moment today to choose a heart of gratitude and contentment. Allow yourself to feel whole in what you have. You are not lacking my friend. That item will not fill you. Sure, it is pretty and can add warmth and cheer to your space, but it will get old just like all things do.

Let us remember where we have come from. Remember the road you had to walk to get to where you stand today. Say thank you to the people that helped you get to where you are. Let’s choose to partner with being fully satisfied and to remember that we aren’t lacking in this season- for He is enough. Hope has come. From that place we get to rest. May peace and joy overwhelm you today my friend, as you take time to be still and renewed in contentment and thanksgiving.

Alabaster & Elm loves you and is so thankful for you.
